A study on maternal health status in urban poor area

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was conducted to obtain the information on maternal health, family planning practice and antenatal and postpartal care in urban poor area. 348 married women in Yang 3 dong, Kwangju city, were interviewed according to the protested questionnaire from January to February 1986.
The results of this study were as follows;
1. The married women of reproductive age had experienced 4.1 pregnancies, 1.0 induced abortion and 0. 2 spontaneous abortion.
2. The family planning practice percentage of the married woman was 57.3%, and the most common method of contraception was the tubal ligation in 64.0%.
3. Among women with children under 2 years of age, 79.7% had the antenatal care, and the average number of antenatal visit per woman was 2.3.
4. Among women with children under 2 years of age, home delivery was 20.4% and hospital delivery 50.0%
5. Women who received the postpartal care was 40.7% and routine check-up for the simple of postpartal care was 27.3%.
